A two-tiered view of the State of Israel’s troubles
That is, two perspectives: man’s and God’s
Humanly (secularly) speaking, the Jewish State is far more concerned with protecting civilians than any other army in the world. But when you have an enemy openly set — as to strategy and aim — the eradication of all Jews and the Israeli State, the utter genocide of a people and nation, it is self-defense to destroy such an enemy.
Especially one who embeds itself and its weaponry, in civilian homes, schools, hospitals, and gathering places with combatants hidden in their midst, behind their human shields. In that case to allow the enemy to survive is to allow constant, unremitting attempts at one's full annihilation.

On the other hand, from the LORD’s point of view:
He said through the prophet Hosea, “yea, woe also to them when I depart from them!” (Hosea 9:12) And through Moses He said—with respect to the breaking of the covenant,
Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us, because our God is not among us? (Deuteronomy 31:17)
About half way through the curses of Deuteronomy 28, Moses says,
Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkened not unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee: And they shall be upon thee for a sign and for a wonder, and upon thy seed for ever (Deut 28:45-46)
As it turned out, the leaders of the nation not only hated the tender Messiah the LORD sent them, but slew Him, and the Jewish people of this day — the days of 2024 — continue in their ways, or else completely disdain and ignore Him.
All this to say, there is worse trouble coming upon the Jewish State and its people — worse by far than the Holocaust — whether it begin to happen in this life, but surely will in the eternal state. For all their moral rectitude (actually the peoples' morals are nearly as bad we in the U.S.), or else among the religious they mostly spit upon the name of Jesus (and Jesus said, "He that hates me hates my Father also" John 15:23).
The LORD has been having His servants in the Jewish State bear bold witness, and a good number have come to Him, as well as many Arabs.
As long as the Jewish people — the nation especially — despise their Messiah, terrific judgment hangs over them. I would not be surprised were awful, major calamity to hit them.

My background: I am a Jew by blood, of the tribe of Levi if one can trust the family genealogies.
As for my being religious, my dad was a Reformed Jew (where one does not have to believe in Moses, or even God — more a cultural thing) and he vice-president of his synagogue, though my mother was converted to Christ, though an old school Anglican from Vienna, she did not talk much about her faith, and I was away in boarding schools, as she was very ill with cancer. I grew up as a pagan, and it was in the sixties, while in the counterculture, I was converted to Jesus Christ at age 26. He has been a faithful Shepherd to keep such a wretch as I have been!
I am sorry if I have offended anyone with my views, but without truth we flounder in confusion and darkness. God’s word is always true.

I love the sons of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and fully recognize their place in God's heart, and in history. To your point, I also know their history as recorded in Scripture: Kings and Chronicles, and like Paul, I pray for their salvation and for the Peace of Jerusalem.
That said, I fully agree with both of your views. It's sad, but to me, biblically obvious (contrary to the online "prophecy teachers")! My prayer is that it's somehow linked to the coming of the lawless one, and that they will emerge with repentance and victory... But I think that plan is pretty well settled.
Thanks for sharing your heart, as painful as it must have been to do.
